The Fall Transition
As the brutal Texas summer gives way to fall, your yard needs a different kind of care. This is the perfect time to repair summer damage and prepare for winter.
Step 1: The Deep Clean
Before any overseeding or fertilizing can happen, the yard must be completely clear of waste. Any remaining dog waste will interfere with seed germination and unevenly distribute nutrients.
Step 2: Aeration
Fall is the ideal time to aerate your lawn. However, running an aerator over a yard that hasn't been thoroughly scooped will simply push bacteria and waste deeper into the soil.
Step 3: Overseeding
If you're planting winter rye or overseeding your Bermuda, a clean slate is essential. Seeds won't grow where waste has burned the soil.
Consistent Maintenance
Even as the grass slows its growth, your dog's output remains the same. Continuing weekly scooping through the fall and winter ensures your yard will be healthy and ready when spring arrives.
